Tennis: Quadri, Oshonaike, others drops in ITTF Ranking

Nigerian table tennis has hit a slump, as stars, Aruna Quadri, Funke Oshonaike and Segun Toriola, drop in the latest International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) rankings. International Table Tennis Federation Star Player of the Year in 2014, Quadri,
went from 44th to 45th in the latest rankings released by ITTF.
In the women’s ranking, Oshonaike dropped 19 places from her 197th position to 216th position in the world. Even though Nigerian veteran, Toriola, managed to remain on 1880 points, he still dropped eight places from 153rd to 161st in the world.
26-year-old Quadri is still, however, the second best tennis player in Africa, behind Egyptian Omar Assar, who also dropped in the ITTF rankings from 36th position to 40th in the world. Nadeen El-Dawlatly, who is the best female table tennis player in Africa, also dropped in the rankings going from 176th to 196th, with Oshonaike still sitting number two in Africa.
