The English Football Association is in pole position to cap
Anglo-Nigerian shot - stopper Edward Ogbebor-Onaiwu ahead of the
Nigerian FA report says. The Charlton Athletic youth - teamer has been officially invited to
attend a national team get - together at St Georges Park, Burton that
will begin on Wednesday, April 29 and run until Thursday, April 30.
Edward Ogbebor-Onaiwu is known to be on the radar of the Nigeria youth
teams, with coach Emmanuel Amuneke inviting him to participate in the
Golden Eaglets screening exercise last December.
Aside from his international passport being expired, it is also
believed that he couldn't make the trip to the Nigeria because of club
duties with The Addicks.
In the days leading up to the All Africa Games qualifiers against
Zambia, Dream Team coach, Samson Siasia, had wanted to run the rule over
the 14 -year - old, only for the youngster to miss the training camp
yet again.
Ogbebor-Onaiwu harbours the ambition of representing Nigeria at the
2015 Fifa Under 17 World Cup but there has been no word from coach
Emmanuel Amuneke whether or not he'll be considered for the tournament
in Chile later this year.
The glovesman turns out for Charlton Athletic's Under 14s and Under 15s teams.
