On a personal level, Manchester City's teenage sensation Kelechi Iheanacho silenced his critics following his immaculate display against Chelsea's Under 18 squad in the final of the FA Youth Cup. And no wonder the Nigeria youth international celebrated his fifth minute goal at Stamford Bridge by putting a finger to his mouth, a sign to any doubting Thomas to
'shut up'.
Prior to the contest in London on Monday night, there had been speculations that the Taye Academy pupil would not be fit for this summer's Fifa Under 20 World Cup due to an ankle injury.
Having come through the game against the Chelsea Under 18s unscathed, Kelechi Iheanacho's management team has said that he will link up with the Flying Eagles at their training camp in Germany in the coming days.
''Kelechi Iheanacho had an ankle injury but he's now fully fit,'' a representative of the striker said.
''Both Manchester City and his management team decided that he should not undergo surgery, so Kelechi was very disciplined to wear a cast.
''With this game in the bag, expect him to join the Flying Eagles camp soon.
''He has shot down all rumours concerning his fitness. Yesterday he showed everyone that he still has his sharpness, he is back.''
The 18-year-old Iheanacho was one of the revelations of the 2013 FIFA Under 17 World Cup, and was presented with the Golden Ball as the best player of the competition.
