The Secretary General of the Nigeria Football Federation, Musa Amadu has stated that the current U-17 team coached by Emmanuel Amuneke should not be compared with their predecessors who won the FIFA U-17 World Cup in the UAE two years ago.
The Eaglets who will represent Nigeria at the 2015 FIFA U-17 World Cup in Chile lost 3-1 to Guinea in
the third place match on Sunday.
Speaking on the team’s performance, Amadu told Sports Radio, 88.9 Brila FM, that he was confident coach Amuneke would have seen where the team was lacking.
“We shouldn’t compare them to the Manu Garba side that won the World Cup two years ago because I know the coach would have seen what is wrong in the team. I believe he would know what to do so that when they go to Chile for the World Cup, they will give a better performance.”
Meanwhile, Mali were crowned champions of the CAF U-17 championship in Niger after they defeated the Amajimbos of South Africa 2-0.
