Women’s League Boss Backs Oshoala For BBC Award

Chairperson of Nigeria Women’s League, Dilichukwu Onyedinma, has congratulated Super Falcons’ Asisat Oshoala on her BBC World Player of the year nomination.
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Executive Board Member said it was high time
Oshoala took her place on the world stage of women’s football because she has shown nothing but class in her exploits for country and club.
“I am happy our girl is doing well and we can see that the sky is already becoming her stepping stone. I feel she should win the award because the players that were nominated alongside her are old players like Brazil’s Marta who has been there and has been nominated several times and she is no more a new player to world women football.
“But Asisat is the reigning African Women Player and the happening girl for Nigeria, Africa and the world so I wish her the best of luck and hope she wins the award,” she said.
Oshoala, was nominated for the first ever BBC Women’s Footballer of the Year award alongside four other women football players.

To celebrate her nomination for the BBC Award on Sunday, Oshoala netted Liverpool’s opening goal before setting up Norwegian Line Smorsgard as the Merseysiders defeated Manchester City 2-1 to send them to third place on the table standings.
