Dolphins and Kwara United opened the new Nigeria league season with a barren draw at the Liberation Stadium in Port Harcourt on Saturday.
Both teams gave good account of themselves and created chances but failed to bury any of them.
Highlight of the game was the red card for Kwara United goalkeeper Suraj Ayeleso in the
88th minute for a foul on Chigozie Ihunda when he ran out of his goal to stop him from getting on to a ball and race toward goal.
Reserve goalkeeper Ismaila Shagari entered for Iyodo in the 89th minute.
Kwara United took the fight to the hosts from the blast of the first whistle as they attempted to score through Ismaila Gata in the third minute, but Sunday Rotimi in goal for Dolphins pulled off a good save.
In the seventh minute, Dolphins forward Tobins Zikalla broke free on the right but his cross was blocked for corner by Kwara defender.
Three minutes, later Ifeanyi Egwim beat his marker but shot wide.
In the 15th minute, Iyoro well taken free kick was easily gathered by Sunday Rotimi.
Dolphins coach was forced to make a change as he replaced Ifeanyi Egwim with Chigozie Ihunda in the 20th minute due to injury.
Kwara United again tested Sunday Rotimi through Jimoh, but again the veteran goalkeeper saved.
In the 55th minute, the Dolphins defence cleared Iyodo’s pass meant for Segun Alebiosu.
Dolphins Omo Johnson has his effort at goal three minutes later blocked by Akeem Onigbari.
Late on, Kwara substitute, Akeem Audu blew two quick chances in the 78th and 79th minutes.
