It was another goalless draw on the opening day of Nigeria league match Saturday as Sharks failed to beat visiting Sunshine Stars at the Liberation Stadium in Port Harcourt.
Both sides battled to break the deadlock but could not, before it rained in the second half of the game.
Visiting Sunshine Stars had the first goal attempt when Dayo Ojo released a
35-yard shot which was saved by James Aiyeyemi in Sharks goal.
In the 18th minute, Ifeanyi Inyam headed over the bar from Bode Daniel’s flick off a long throw.
Dayo Ojo fired another long-range shot after collecting a poor clearance from Sharks goalkeeper Aiyeyemi, but he missed by a whisker.
Sunshine again failed to score in the 28th minute, when Tunde Adeniji tried to score a goal stylishly and he missed.
Four minutes later, Sharks captain Odinga Odinga’s goal attempt when he lobbed the ball over Danladi Isah, who was off his line, sailed over the bar.
In the 37th minute, Kunle Odunlami cleared a dangerous ball before Bode Daniel could connect.
A minute later, Mutiu Adegoke’s free kick was saved by James Aiyeyemi in goal for Sharks.
Just a minute into the second half, Sharks failed to take the lead when Bode Daniel fired over the bar from six yards.
