After a hard fought goalless draw in a match against second-placed Warri Wolves, Ten-man Enyimba came out as champions of this season's Glo NPFL title for a record seven time in
front of a 40,000 fans at the Enyimba International Stadium. The people's Elephant needed just a point to clinch the title and they just did that even after Daniel Etor was sent-off in the 50th minute for aggressively punching Warri Wolves striker , Gbolahan Salami. The two-time African champoins were confirmed league winner as they have 69 points from 37 matches six points ahead of Warri Wolves in second position with 63 points.
Tamen Medrano
In the other match fixtures of the day, Bayelsa United were shocked at home after they were beaten 2-1 also by ten-man Sunshine stars which confirmed there relegation to second division. Goals from Cameroonian midfielder Tamen Medrano and Luther Iyorhe was enough to do the damage while Jafari Buhari got the solitary goal for the home team. Tamen Medrano was later sent off in the 80th minute. Sunshine stars who sits in the 6th position on the now have 59 points after having played 36 games.
Nasarawa United against all odds went away and defeated Ifeanyi Uba FC 2-0 in Nnewi while Wikki Tourists' hope of making a continental appearance was dealt with huge blow as they suffered a 1-0 defeat away to regional rivals El-Kanemi Warriors. Former Taraba FC Striker Chinedu Ohanachom got the only goal of the match for El-kanemi Warriors as they are in a safe zone of 12th on the log with 49 points and Nasarawa United are fourth on the log with 60 points.
