The Round of 16 at the ongoing FIFA Under-20 World Cup in New Zealand promises to be a tough one because of the quality of teams that have made it through to the stage. Let's see reasons.
1)Back in form
The Flying Eagles of Nigeria are back in form after they beat Hungary 2-0 in the last Group E match to finish in second place behind unbeaten Brazil who thrashed North Korea 3-0 in the other game.
2) Awoniyi Factor
Ever-active Awoniyi scored two brilliant goals to seal Nigeria's passage into the round of Last-16. But the Eagles will face a very tough task against another tournament's unbeaten and current best team Germany. Does Coach Garba have the full confidence in Awoniyi to deliver once again?
3) Two Champions:
Germany are the European Champions just as Nigeria is the African Champions. Germany knocked Honduras out of the tournament with a 5-1 result that ensured Senegal would go through as one of the best third-placed sides, ending a nerve-racking 24-hour wait for the West Africans. So expect a cracker
Stendera
4) Nigeria Strikers Vs German Midfielders: Awoniyi and Godwin Saviour has two goals each while German two powerful midfielders, Hany Mukhtar and Marc Stendera have four goals a piece.
5) Current Statistics : The Germans scoring record is scary having scored a total of 16 goals and conceded just two while Nigeria has scored 8 goals and conceded four goals keeping a clean sheet in the last two matches. Expect fireworks!
This is a beat worry for Manu Garba and his boys who need to be at their possible best on Thursday the 11th of June, in order to defeat the Germans.
Will Manu Garba stick with his current team or do we expect him to gamble with Isaac Success and Kelechi Iheanacho just like our first game against Brazil?
