Scouts representing Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur, Liverpool and German
Bundesliga side Hertha Berlin were in attendance at Lerkendal Stadium
when Rosenborg clashed with IK Start in the Tippeligaen on Thursday
night. It is unclear at this point the players that were being scouted by the
European powerhouses though Norwegian publication Fædrelandsvennen has
speculated that the main focus was on IK Start's teenage sensation
Kristoffer Ajer.
Norwegian intermediary Atta Aneke, who has advised Solomon Owello in
the past, has played down talk that the English Premier League clubs
came to run the rule over the attacking midfielder.
''Everybody knows who the scouts came to watch. They came to watch the
17-year-old, Kristoffer Ajer,'' said Atta Aneke.
''Owello is a good player, fantastic and humble guy but he hasn't
played 75 percent of national team's matches over the last two years so
it would be difficult for him to move to England.''
After putting himself in the shop window at the 2007 Fifa Under 20
World Cup, Owello trialed with Manchester United before agreeing terms
with IK Start the following year.
The 26-year-old set up the 90th minute goal scored by Kristoffer Ajer in the 3-2 loss to Rosenborg.
