FCT honours late Rashidi Yekini by naming street after him


The Federal Capital territory, Abuja have honoured late Super Eagles striker, Rashidi Yekini by naming a street after him.
Yekini  who is the national record goal scorer of the Super Eagles was named alongside other eminent Nigerians with
Abuja streets named after them.
He was given this honoured for his feat as the first Nigerian footballer to have scored in senior FIFA World Cup competition.
Yekini scored 37 goals in 58 appearances for the Super Eagles and died in May 2012 at the age of 48.
In the list released by the Federal Government, a slew of sports personalities who have distinguished themselves were also honoured.
These include, the first Nigerian single Olympic gold medalist, Chioma Ajunwa, former world wrestling champion,the late Power Mike Okpala,  first Nigerian to win World Boxing title, Dick Tiger Ihetu, and the youngest Nigerian to play at the African Cup of Nations, Mr. Daniel Amokachi.
