Pepsi Football Academy's beach soccer profile rose at the weekend with a commanding performance at the 2015 edition of Gidi Culture Festival in Lagos, coming on the heels of another performance at the COPA Lagos beach soccer tournament last December.
The Pepsi boys dominated JK Team in the first match with an emphatic 6-1 victory before
rounding off with another win over AGMP Team in the final match to cart away the trophy.
Pepsi’s team comprised of players that starred against Barcelona FC sand team at COPA Lagos and the rejuvenated side attracted the crowd with its entertaining display that saw the spectators calling for more.
Head of Marketing, Seven Up Bottling Company Plc, Mr. Norden Thurston, who witnessed the games, expressed delight at the players’ performance which he described as encouraging.
“The essence of the tournament at the Gidi Culture Festival is to excite the brand’s consumers at Easter,” Thuston, who was represented by the Brand Manager, Seven Up Bottling Company Plc, Mr. Segun Ogunleye, said, adding, “We are committed to developing grassroots football and beach soccer in Nigeria through the Pepsi Football Academy.”
Director of the Pepsi Football Academy, Chief Kasimawo Laloko, also expressed satisfaction at the players’ output.
“We will continue to participate in various competitions at home and abroad to create exposure for the youngsters who are the future of Nigerian football,” Laloko, who recently bagged the chieftaincy title of Olori Parakoyi of Egbaland, said.
