BAYELSA records first league point against Sharks

Bayelsa United recorded their first point on the road when they drew goalless with hosts Sharks in Port Harcourt on Thursday. Bayelsa now have five points from as many games, while Sharks have six points from same number of matches.Bayelsa United were resolute in their defending as the
defence line led by the captain Salomon Junior successfully frustrated all efforts by Sharks forward to get the goals.The highlight of the game was coach Gbenga Ogunbote directing affairs on the sidelines for Sharks for the first time this season after he recovered from attack by hoodlums before the season kicked off.
Fredrick Obomate’s low drive missed target by whiskers under 10 minutes.In the 10th minute, Bayelsa captain Salomon Junior fouled Bode Daniel outside the area but Chima Akas fired the resultant free kick at the wall.
Four minutes later, Sharks almost took the lead when Chiamaka Madu's effort from outside the box came off the goal post with Akpan Bassey stranded.
The hosts’ attempted to score goal when Thompson Stowe's left-footed long range effort missed by a whisker.In the 26th minute, Bayelsa United's Bernard Okorowanta won his side's first corner of the game after he tried to score following a good solo run from Musa Najare.
Thompson Stowe then missed a glorious opportunity to put  Sharks  in front but he chose to aim for the heavens inside Bayelsa vital area.
In the 90th minute, Sharks' goalkeeper Thambe pulled off a magnificent save to deny Okorowanta.
