2014-15 Nationwide League Cropped to Meet Deadline

The 2014/15 Nigeria Nationwide League season will be trimmed so as to meet the August deadline of concluding league matches in the country, the Secretariat of the third-tier club football has confirmed.
League matches in the country are scheduled to run not later than the date slated for the
Federation Cup final and owing to the delay in kickoff due to the 2015 General Elections, the Nationwide League will run an “abridged” season.
“We have informed the clubs under the Nation-wide League to take note of this,” Executive Secretary of the Nationwide League, Olusola Ogunnowo, said on Wednesday.
He added: “The reason for this is not farfetched because you know that due to the recent general elections, we couldn’t start the league as scheduled because of the shifting of the polls.
“Considering the time frame available to us now, there is no way we will have nineteen weeks from now to the month of August that we have to conclude the season.”

Ogunnowo however assured every stake -holder in the league that the 2014/2015 Season will be much better packaged. “I also want to add that this season will surely be the best in the history of the League as better things have been planned on how we want to run this season.
