Assistant coach of the Flying Eagles Nduka Ugbade has expressed optimism that despite being drawn in a difficult group at the AYC, the team will do well.
Reacting to the Sunday’s draw which was held at CAF headquarters in Cairo, Egypt, Ugbade told Completesportsnigeria.com that though it is a tough group, Nigeria will scale through.
“It is a very difficult group but not as difficilt as what we have seen in recent times. The eight countries that qualified for the competition which include Ghana, Zambia, South Africa and Cameroon, they are all strong. So whichever group you belong to, you must be ready to show something. We are not afraid at all, we are ready,” Ugbade stated confidently.
He stated further that the team’s training will intensify now that they know their group opponents.
“We just finished our screening and we have picked those we wanted. Now that we know our group opponents, we are going to intensify our preparation and hope that everything turns out positive for us.”
In group B, Ghana, South Africa, Mali and Zambia will slug it out.
