Reigning African Women’s Champions, the Super Falcons of Nigeria should be well motivated as the Federation of International Football Association (FIFA) have increased the prize money for the winning team at the 2015 Women’s World Cup in Canada.
The amount will double from the previous tournament, FIFA has announced.
The winners will receive $2m (approximately £1,280,000) compared to the $1m won by Japan in 2011.
A total of $15m will be on offer for the tournament in Canada, which runs from 6 June to 5 July, up from $10m four years ago.
Super Falcons of Nigeria will be competing with USA, Sweden and Australia in the Group D of the 7th edition of the tournament.
Nigeria have appeared in every edition of the biggest women’s football in the World.
