Celebrating Samuel Peters at 36, PLUS Five Facts You Must Know About Him


Samuel Okon Peter was born in Akwa-Ibom State of Nigeria on September 6, 1980. He was a Nigerian professional boxer who held the WBC heavyweight title in 2008 and rose to prominence in his early professional career following a string of knockout wins. Here are some important facts about him;


1) Peter is a devout Christian who neither drinks nor smokes. He has a total career fight of 40 with 35 Wins (28 knockouts, 7 decisions), 5 Losses (3 knockouts, 2 decisions), 0 Draws. He has never won any match against the Klitschko brothers.

2) Peter, is managed by Ivalio Gotsev who is a stablemate to former WBO Heavyweight champion Sergei Liakhovich. He was also later trained by the famous boxing promoter Don King.

3) In 2009, Peter challenged American Champion Chris Arreola to a bout claiming that Arreola had stolen his "nightmare" nickname. Peter said that if the fight went through then the loser would have to change his moniker.

4) Peter is the nephew of Nigerian professional wrestler Great Power Uti (remeber him?)

5) Peter's last fight till date was the one with Ron Aubrey on 27th September, 2014 that took place in OKC Downtown Airpark, Oklahoma City and Peter won the fight by Knock-out. It is as of yet unclear whether he will make any substantive ring return in the nearest future.
