Just In:Ighalo, Akpom opens season account, as other Nigerians impress abroad


Odion Ighalo (Watford): Super Eagles forward Odion Ighalo scored his first of the season for Watford in the EPL in the Hornets’ 2-2 draw against Everton at Goodison Park.
The 26-year-old Nigerian international who came on for Manuel Jurado in the 74th minute took only
just 11 minutes to restore Watford’s lead after Ross Barkley 25 yard stunner cancelled out Miguel LayĂșn opener in the 14th minute.
Ighalo, who scored 20 goals for Watford last season, scored a brilliant goal, feinting past two defenders before bending a delightful finish past the Everton keeper.
Bamidele Alli (Tottenham Hotspurs):
Nigerian-born winger Bamidele Alli came off the substitute’s bench in the 77th minute for Eric Dier as his side slumped to a 1-0 loss at Manchester United.
Mikel Obi, Victor Moses (Chelsea): Super Eagles duo of Mikel Obi and Victor Moses watched from the bench for the entire game as 10-man Chelsea began their title defence with a 2-2 draw at home to Swansea.
Hope Akpan (Reading): Hope Akpan was not listed for Reading who lost 2-1 to Birmingham City.
Sone Aluko, Chuba Akpom (Hull City): Nigerian born Chuba Akpom scored on his debut for Hull City who defeated Huddersfield Town 2-0 on Saturday.
Akpom played for 83 minutes before being replaced by Greg Luer.
His compatriot Aluko replaced Ryan Taylor in the 63rd minute.

Ogenyi Onazi (Lazio)
Nigerian midfielder Ogenyi Onazi was on from start to finish as Lazio lost 2-0 to Juventus in the Italian Super Cup in Shanghai.

Germany
Anthony Ujah (Werder Bremen): Anthony scored in his club's two 2-0 away win over Wuerzburger Kickers in the German DFB Cup early stage.
