It was a cagey affair for the Super Falcons of Nigeria as they played out a 3-3 draw with Sweden on Monday night in their first Group D match at the on going Women World Cup in Winnipeg Canada.
The Falcons were 2-0 down to Sweden in the first half but showed character and spirit as
they came back alive with a fast and physical style of play in the second half. Coach Edwin Okon's side dominated much of the open play but couldn't convert most of their chances, while Sweden have their supremacy from set-pieces to thank for finishing on terms with the African champions.
Second half goals from forward Francisca Ordega, Assisat Oshoala and Desire Oparanozie were enough to get the draw but they will need to up their game against Matildas of Australia on Friday 12th June who lost 3-1 to the Yanks of USA in the other match.
Nigeria plays USA (who currently tops the Group) on the 16th of June 2015.
