BREAKING NEWS: Nigerian Oshoala wins inaugural BBC Women's footballer of the Year Award (see photos)


Falcon of Nigeria Striker, Asisat Oshoala has just been announced winner of the first ever BBC Women's Footballer of the Year award competition. The 21-year-old Liverpool forward
who was the youngest player to be shortlisted, was the leading goalscorer at the Under-20s World Cup in Canada last summer and was voted the tournament's best player.
Her performances led Nigeria to the final, where they were narrowly beaten by Germany, and she was also a major influence in the senior Nigeria team who won the African Women's Championship in October,2014. Meanwhile, Oshoala is currently on international duty for Nigeria as they prepare ahead of the 2015 Women's World Cup later this year.
