Zenith Bank Women Basketball League: Dolphins, Deepwater maintain dominance


Patience Okpe scored a team high 19 points as Dolphins maintained their unbeaten run in the Zenith Bank Women Basketball League with a 92-29 victory over Coalcity Queens of
Enugu.
With a commanding start from the opening tipoff, the 2014 league runners-up led by double digits in each of the four quarters to send signals of their intentions to claim this season’s title.
Speaking after the match, Okpe, who also had four rebounds to go with her gameleading 19 points, said: “Our aspiration this season is to go a step further than we did last year, which is getting the title.”
She added: “Our team is built on hard work and determination and we are taught to play without any inhibitions.
Also on Wednesday, First Deepwater maintained their perfect start to the Opening Phase of the Zenith Bank Women Basketball League with a 77-16 victory over the Taraba Hurricanes. Benue Princess also defeated Immigration 33-31; Plateau Rocks defeated AHIP Queens 39-29, while Zamfara Babes suffered an embarrassing 65-8 loss to Delta Force.
