The MLS disciplinary committee has warned San Jose Earthquakes for the players’ attitude by surrounding the referee to protest the decision to book Emeghara, which violated the league's mass confrontation policy on the play. The club were not sanctioned because it was their first violation of the
season. However, striker Emeghara was suspended for one game for his 41st minute tackle on Real Salt Lake's Luke Mulholland in the two teams' encounter on Sunday.
The Committee deemed the tackle was serious foul play that endangered the safety of an opponent and issued the suspension and a fine of an undisclosed amount to the Earthquakes forward.
The Nigeria-born Switzerland international was originally shown a yellow card for the tackle by referee Armando Villarreal, but the league board feel he should get more than that. The 25-year-old has scored a goal in five games for San Jose earthquakes this season.
