The 16th edition of the Delta State Federations Cup has recorded a major upset, as Glo Premier League side, Warri Wolves FC, was sent packing by an unknown first timer, God’s Time FC, in the semifinal.
The match, which took place at Ughelli Township Stadium ended 5-4 after
penalty shootouts in favour of God’s Time FC after the game ended 1-1 at regulation and extra time. Ecobank is sponsor of the Delta FC Cup. Giant killing God’s Time FC will now trade tackles with J. Atete FC in the grand finale of this year’s Delta State Federation Cup at the Warri City Stadium on April 9. To get to the final, J. Atete FC defeated Anioma FC 3-1 in the semifinal.
For their failure to progress beyond the semifinal, Warri Wolves FC who are campaigning in the CAF Confederations Cup will face Anioma FC in the third place match. Delta State Governor Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan will be the special guest of honour in the grand finale, and is expected to lead other top government officials as well as management and staff of the sponsor, Ecobank.
