TRANSFER NEWS: KAA Gent snatch Sad’eeq from Ajax

Belgium club KAA Gent have beaten Ajax Amsterdam and a host of European clubs to clinch the signature of Nigerian top talent Sad’eeq Yusuf Ahmat.
Proactive Ajax director of football Marc Overmars had received a tip-off few months ago about the Nigerian talent and the Dutchman did everything to bring the player to the Amsterdam club, but his
efforts were to no avail due to unforeseen delays from the Dutch Consulate in Abuja.
Sad’eeq had encountered severe delays in obtaining a Netherlands permit and the situation remained prolonged even after several appeals from Ajax Amsterdam.
KAA Gent, who were also closely monitoring the situation, then decided to explore the possibilities of signing Sad’eeq after receiving very positive scouting reports about the player.
Experienced Gent director Michel Louwagie made his move despite interest from several top European clubs.
He arranged an appointment with the player's father and personally convinced the family that Gent were the perfect club for the development of their son's career before using his contacts to obtain the necessary documents to fly the player to Belgium.
"We were so frustrated with the initial delays with the permit for Ajax but I am now happy with the final outcome. I was impressed with the way the Gent boss, Mr Michel Louwagie, approached me and took his time to carefully explain the career plan that his club had for my son.
"I was very satisfied with our discussion and after our conversation I immediately knew that Gent was the best option to choose for my son Sad’eeq. For many weeks now my phone has been ringing all the time, different people have been calling from different countries with various proposals but in my heart I feel that my son is now with a club that will take care of him and his career development. As a family, this is the most important thing for us," Sad'eeq's father, Yusuf said.
The attacking midfielder, groomed from the famous GBS Academy which produced the likes of Ahmed Musa and Moses Simon, is now understood to have arrived in Belgium to complete his transfer.
He is expected to sign a contract that would keep him at KAA Gent for several years.
Sad'eeq has a similar playing style with Juventus and French midfielder Paul Pogba.
