Flying Eagles coach rejected Iheanacho's late-minute plea- Nduka Ugbade

Assistant coach of Nigeria’s U20 team, Nduka Ugbade has revealed that the Flying Eagles head coach, Manu Garba left out Manchester City youngster, Kelechi Iheanacho despite his pleas to be included in Nigeria’s delegation for the 2015 Africa U20 championship in Senegal.

The 18-year old player has been out injured according to his club, which he

recovered from before suffering another setback, after which he asked the coaching staff of the Flying Eagles if he could be drafted into the squad as a late inclusion.

Ugbade explained that the U-20 coach promised to include them in his world cup plans provided God helps them to qualify for the FIFA U-20 world cup coming up later this year.

“Iheanacho, Wilfred Ndidi and some of the other players who are not here (in Senegal) actually pleaded with coach Manu if they could be included but he said no because they did not work with us in the final phase of our preparations.

“That is the hunger and desire they all displayed but the coach (Manu) has told them that if we qualify for the U20 World Cup, they will all be invited to fight for shirts,” Ugbade told supersport.com.

Meanwhile, the Flying Eagles will begin their campaign against host nation, Senegal on Sunday after having their first training session in the competition.

Their last training before the Sunday showdown will take place on Saturday at the Stade Iba Mar Diop.
