NFF confirms Iwobi for Bolivia friendly

  • Arsenal star rues Nigeria’s debut miss

The Nigeria Football Federation has confirmed that Arsenal’s Alex Iwobi will be invited for the Super Eagles friendly match against Bolivia on March 26 after the youngster failed to make his much awaited debut for Nigeria at the weekend.

The 18-year-old was left out of the U-23 Eagles who defeated Gabon 4-1 in Liberaville after the NFF failed to get clarification from FIFA to feature the ex-England youth international in the All Africa Games qualifier.
But NFF’s Director of Technical, Dr. Emmanuel Ikpeme, revealed that Iwobi would make his debut for Nigeria soon.
“We all know that the U-23 team is like the feeder team for the new Super Eagles we are trying to build, so bringing the young man to be part of this team was done on purpose, now that he has fitted and bonded with the team, our next target is trying to see how we can firm up the paper work with FIFA then invite him to the Super Eagles for any of our upcoming international friendlies,” he said.
Meanwhile, Iwobi has expressed disappointment over his inability to make his official debut for Nigeria’s Olympic National Team in the 4-1 thrashing of Gabon in Libreville on Saturday.

‘’Even though I am disappointed to not get my debut for Nigeria, I’m happy that my teammates were able to be victorious against Gabon,’’ said Iwobi
