On Matchday 28 of the NPFL, the match between Heartland FC and FC Ifeanyi Ubah ended in goalless draw at the Dan Anyiam Stadium in Owerri on Saturday 23rd July, 2016. But the match was marred after fans of the home team Heartland FC attacked FC Ifeanyi Ubah team bus as their players
sustained severe injuries.
It could be recalled that during their first leg encounter of the same fixture in Nnewi, Heartland FC's goalkeeper and brother to Super Eagles' Mikel Obi, Ebere Obi was slapped by the owner of Ifeanyi Ubah FC and was battered by his security men including some Heartland FC players. Now this will come as a form of revenge for what happened in Nnewi, as Heartland Fc supporters attacked Ifeanyi Uba FC players right after the final whistle.
Heartland FC remains in the relegation zone at 18th position with 30 points while FC Ifeanyi Ubah is placed on temporal 8th position with 37 points with 8 matches remaining to the end of the season.
