Pinnick harps on significance of science in Football

President of Nigeria Football Federation, Mr. Amaju Melvin Pinnick has once again underscored the importance of applying scientific approach and modern technology to all sectors of football development in the country.
Speaking on the very popular ABC Sports programme of London –based BEN Television on
Saturday evening, Pinnick insisted that football has been taken over by science and only those countries that quickly comply would be counted among the top performers in the game.
“Coaches are driven by science, referees are driven by science and the players are also helped a great deal by science. That is why, at the inception of this administration, we talked at length about our determination to apply science to whatever we would be doing.
“You build capacity off the field, which have impact on the field, through science. We have sent a total of 30 referees to go and see how it is done in societies with great football culture, such as the United Kingdom, and we are sending another batch of 20 in a couple of weeks. We have also sent coaches to the United Kingdom for the same purpose.”
Pinnick praised the achievements of the previous administration headed by Alhaji Aminu Maigari, for its tremendous achievements in adequate preparation of National Teams for international championships, and ultimately winning several laurels, saying the new team was now left with the task of taking things to the next level.
“The application of science will get us to a height we have never been previously. All I ask from our people, the fans and all stakeholders of the game, is patience. The results of all that we are doing cannot come in a few weeks or months.

“Our commitment remains qualifying all National Teams for major international championships and seeing that they play to win each time they go out there. However, the ultimate is being able to create a sustainable football culture that will completely change the way we see and appreciate the game of football in our country.”
