Nigeria Professional Football League Week 3: The Winners and the Loosers



The WINNERS 

1) Perfect Start


Plateau United FC of Jos are early table leaders as they made it three wins from three matches with a 3-1 win over visiting Sunshine. Having scored 8 goals so far and conceded 3, they have 9 points under new coach Kennedy Boboye.

2) Victor Hands Newcomers first Win of the season


Victor Mbaoma who was signed this season by NPFL Remo StarsFC has now scored in all three of  NPFL games so farsince making his debut in the top-flight.

3) Pace setter claim

Stephen Odeh of MFM becomes the first player to score the first brace & hat-trick this season Moreover in a single game.

4) First to score

Chigozirim Metu becomes the first player to score in the first ever premier league meeting ABSIlorinFC & FC IfeanyiUbah. His goal was enough to hand FC Ifeanyi Ubah their second defeat of the season.

                             The LOOSERS

1) No win yet


Nasarawa United, Akwa United and Niger Tornadoes are the only three teams yet to register a win after the first three matches of the season.

2) Red Card

Ayo Saka of Sunshine Stars was giving the matching orders as the referee never hesitated to show him the red card which is his second booking in just a minute exactly at the 26th minute of the 1st half match between Plateau United and Sunshine Stars. Plateau united won the match 3-1.

3) Boboye downs Stars

Sunshine Stars were a victim of defeat at the hands of their ex-coach Kennedy Boboye. Boboye was Sunshine Stars' coach last two seasons before he went on to manage Abia Warriors. 

4) Lost Coaches

Of all the four clubs from the east only Enyimba and Abia Warriors has two wins so far while FC Ifeanyi and Abia warriors who both signed new coaches this new season has not found life in the NPFL so easy as both lost their matches on Matchday 3.

While the clubs from the West are not performing so badly so far; MFM FC, Remo Stars and ABS FC of Ilorin all recoreded wins while the two old horses Sunshine Stars and Shooting Stars both lost on the road.
